UPDATED 4/25: Reports indicate Currington turned himself into authorities this afternoon. He was immediately taken into custody and bond was set at $27,000. He has been released.
Country singer Billy Currington is a wanted man by Georgia police. A Savannah judge has issued a bench warrant for the country singer after a Georgia grand jury indicted Currington, 39, on charges of making terroristic threats and the abuse of an elderly person, citing they “found sufficient evidence” against him.
CNN reports that Currington is accused of threatening bodily harm against Charles Harvey Ferrelle in Tybee Island, GA, on April 15th. Elder abuse has been charged because Ferrelle is older than 65 years of age.
CMT is reporting that Ferrelle is a tour boat captain in Tybee Island where Currington has a home. Currington and Ferrelle had some type of verbal altercation at a dock owned by Currington when, at some point, the singer boarded Ferrelle’s boat and followed him to a nearby dock where police became involved. Currington took to Twitter on Wednesday to thank fans for their support.
