UPDATED 5/17: NBC makes the announcement official!
Deals to lock in the judges for the next two cycles of NBC’s “The Voice” are nearly in place, insiders say. Reports on Thursday indicate that Blake Shelton and Adam Levine are returning for both seasons 5 and 6 while Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green are set to return for season 5 and current first year judges Shakira and Usher return for season 6.
Insiders say contracts are nearly in place and expect NBC to make an official announcement in the next few days.
We reported earlier this week that Aguilera was returning for season 5 while her replacement Shakira exits to focus on her career and newborn baby. The fate of Green, Usher, Levine and Shelton hadn’t been announced at the time.
Aguilera and Green both left after season 3 to focus on their careers. At the time of the departures, executive producer Mark Burnett said there’d always be a rotating panel of judges given that they’re working artists.
“The Voice” airs on Mondays and Tuesdays on NBC.
