Trek was initially announced in 2020

BTS has canceled its Map of the Soul Tour due to COVID concerns. The K-pop superstars shared the news late Thursday (Aug 19th) night on socials.

“Our company has worked hard to resume preparations for the BTS Map of the Soul Tour, knowing that all fans have been waiting eagerly and long for the tour. However, due to changing circumstances beyond our control, it has become difficult to resume performances at the same scale and timeline as previously planned. Therefore, we must announce the cancellation of the BTS Map of the Soul Tour,” they share.

The band initially announced the tour in January 2020 but was postponed before it even began. The Seoul concerts were previously canceled in February of 2020, followed by the postponement of the North American leg in March. Dates in Europe and Japan were postponed ahead of ticket sales in those regions. North American ticketholders will receive an email from original point of purchase regarding refunds.

BTS is the latest in a growing list of artists who are canceling tours completely. Garth Brooks, Nine Inch Nails and Stevie Nicks are among those who have canceled the remainder of their 2021 dates due to rising COVID cases. Organizers of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam have also postponed festivals due to the surge of COVID cases nationwide.

Tesla, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Foo Fighters, Buckcherry, Korn, Mammoth WVH and The Cadillac Three are among those who have been forced to postpone or cancel dates due to an active case within their touring camps.

Meanwhile, major promoters, such as Live Nation, AEG Presents and Danny Wimmer Presents, are requiring proof of vaccination or negative COVID test before entering its venues, festivals or offices starting this fall, including Bonnaroo, Coachella and Stagecoach.
