New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival canceled due to COVID fears

2022 date set for April 29-May 8

Organizers of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival have canceled the 2021 edition this fall due to rising COVID cases in the area. The festival shared the news on Sunday (Aug 8th) via its social channels and website.

“As a result of the current exponential growth of new COVID cases in New Orleans and the region and the ongoing public health emergency, we must sadly announce that the 2021 edition of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival presented by Shell, scheduled to take place October 8 –17, 2021, will not occur as planned,” the statement partially reads.

“In the meantime, we urge everyone to follow the guidelines and protocols put forth by public health officials, so that we can all soon experience together the joy that is Jazz Fest.”

Ticketholders for both weekends (including those that rolled over their tickets from 2020) will receive an email this week with details about the ticket refund and rollover process.

Organizers announced the headliners less than a month ago with The Rolling Stones set for Wednesday, October 13th. Those tickets will be refunded automatically.

Next year’s dates were also announced for April 29 – May 8, 2022.

This is the second year the pandemic has caused the festival to be canceled.
