EMI artist Drake White has a unique voice that isn’t hard to spot. You know it right away. His soulful, bluesy country sound will pull you in and make you beg for more. The Alabama-native released his single “Simple Life” to radio back in March, and it shows just how talented he is as a songwriter. Simple but brilliant.
At what age did you know you wanted to pursue music as a career?
I was around 12 years old when I began to dream, but it was not until college that I got bit by the music bug.
Who influenced you growing up? What artists did you listen to?
My father sang and introduced me to folks like (Bob) Seger, Allman Brothers, & Ray Charles.
As far as the songwriting process goes, how is that for you? Do you have a certain routine or anything?
Heck no, when it hits me, it hits me. I like to write outside a lot.
One food you can’t live without?
Home grown veggies.
Do you have any pet peeves?
Yes! Get off your phone when you are eating with me!!!
Last movie you’ve seen?
Zero Dark Thirty
Would you ever do a reality show?
I don’t think so.
If you could do a duet with any female artist who would you pick?
Bonnie Raitt! She rocks!!
Any future projects we can look forward to?
Shoot yea!! My record should be coming this fall! Itʼs very home grown and real.
What would you like the world to know about Drake White?
I would want them to know that I live by the “golden rule,” that I believe in people and that good always wins. I am a fan of Jesus and the ability that was given to me through His spirit — Galatians 5:16.
