Further details are pending

Last week, Paramount+ announced additional episodes for its Yellowstone prequel, 1883, starring Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. It was presumed that “additional episodes” meant second season. However, show executive producer David Glasser confirms that the streamer’s announcement of 1932 continues the saga of the Duttons without divulging any further details.

“I don’t want to give away too much, but 1932 was always intended to be the second season. Now the network is excited to bring you something really additional to 1883, which is super exciting. There was one way set with it — there was one version — and now there’s going to be two versions,” Glasser tells The Hollywood Reporter.

“Everything is well-thought-out with [creator] Taylor [Sheridan]. So when you see what’s coming, you’ll see it’s pretty exciting. I think 1883 was an incredible journey. We’re excited the way fans embraced it and I’m excited for people to see all the other great stuff that we’re doing around it now.”

Further details about the additional episodes of 1883 are pending. 1932 will follow a new generation of Duttons during the time of western expansion, Prohibition and the Great Depression.

Since its December 2021 premiere, the series achieved a record-breaking performance that shattered the service’s record as the most-watched title ever globally. The show’s first 10 episodes wrapped on February 27th with several main characters dying, including the daughter of McGraw’s and Hill’s characters, Elsa Dutton, played by Isabel May.

Created by Academy Award Nominee Taylor Sheridan, 1883 is the highly anticipated prequel to the SAG, PGA and Emmy nominated series Yellowstone that also stars Academy Award nominee Sam Elliott, LaMonica Garrett, Marc Rissmann, Audie Rick, Eric Nelsen and James Landry Hébert. Billy Bob Thorton, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson all made special guest appearances.

1883 follows the Dutton family as they embark on a journey west through the Great Plains toward the last bastion of untamed America. It is a stark retelling of Western expansion, and an intense study of one family fleeing poverty to seek a better future in America’s promised land – Montana.
