The expanded & remastered edition drops in August
311 has announced an expanded and remastered reissue of their fan-favorite album Grassroots, due out August 23rd, to celebrate the albumโs 30th anniversary. Originally released in July 1994 and certified gold by the RIAA in 1999, the album peaked at No. 8 and No. 193 on the Billboard Heatseekers and Billboard 200 charts respectively. The album features singles โHomebrew,โ โLuckyโ and โ8:16 AMโ, along with โApplied Scienceโ which has remained a staple in 311โs live shows.
Released by Sony Music’s Legacy Recordings, the reissue of Grassroots will feature the 14 tracks original album tracks newly remastered from the original tapes by the bandโs longtime engineer Joe Gastwirt – plus five bonus tracks of pre-production demos made available on vinyl for the first time. Vinyl configurations include a clear with brown swirl pressing and a limited edition yellow and green with black swirl pressing, both with new Pearlized album art.
โThis is the second installment of the Pearlized album art series celebrating the 30th Anniversary of our album Grassroots,โ shares drummer Chad Sexton on the release. โGrassroots was our sophomore record released in 1994. The recording process had its fair share of setbacks and problems but we persevered and put out an eclectic blend of rock, pap, fusion, jazz, funk, and reggae. These were some memorable times and we are happy and proud to put out this new version mastered by Joe Gastwirt with extra tracks never released on vinyl before. We hope you enjoy from top to bottom!โ
311 recently released “Youโre Gonna Get It,” their first new single since their album Voyager in 2019. The track has been met with rave reviews from longtime fans and new listeners alike, and has earned the band their first charting single on alt-rock radio in five years, reaching No. 5.
311 is getting ready to embark on the Unity Tour with special guests AWOLNation and Neon Trees. The tour kicks off in Cincinnati, OH on July 20th and will be making stops throughout the United States in Chicago, Boston, Raleigh, Tampa, Houston, Costa Mesa, and more before wrapping up in Redmond, WA on August 31st.
