The group is releasing two new songs and a TV special

ABBA, one of the best selling pop groups of all time, hasn’t released new music in 35 years, but that’s all about to change in December with the release of two new singles. One of the songs, “I Still Have Faith In You,” will be featured in a new NBC/BBC TV special set to air in December.

The group announced their reunion earlier this year, even confirming a tour next year as computer-generated avatars, which features the band as digitally scanned to be de-aged so they appear as they last toured in 1979. This is also the premise of their upcoming TV special.

“The decision to go ahead with the exciting ABBA avatar tour project had an unexpected consequence. We all felt that, after some 35 years, it could be fun to join forces again and go into the recording studio. So we did. And it was like time had stood still and we had only been away on a short holiday. An extremely joyful experience!” the Swedish foursome says in a statement.

“It resulted in two new songs and one of them ‘I Still Have Faith In You’ will be performed by our digital selves in a TV special produced by NBC and the BBC aimed for broadcasting in December. We may have come of age, but the song is new. And it feels good.”

The group has always been “around” as their jukebox musical Mamma Mia! has been running worldwide since 1999. The musical was turned into a film in 2008 and then again a sequel this year with the release of Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again hitting theaters earlier this summer.

“ABBA’s staying power speaks for itself and, with the second Mamma Mia! movie currently in cinemas, there hasn’t been a better time for the group to reunite,” states Betway’s Alan Alger.

“It seems like a good time for punters to take a chance on 2018 being the year they get back together and, at 7/4 [odds], the winner really could take it all.

“If the comeback does happen, we are 16/1 [odds] for them to be top of the UK charts at Christmas, while they are 25/1 to headline next year’s Glastonbury.”

ABBA has achieved nine No. 1 singles in the UK – the most of any non-British group ever, so they could take their new music all the way to top once again. “Dancing Queen” is the group’s best-selling single. It spent six weeks at No. 1 in the UK, where it sold more than one million copies. The song also topped the charts worldwide, and became their first and only No. 1 hit in America.

ABBA has released 11 albums (seven studio, four compilations), between 1974 and 1983, eight of which reached No. 1 on the UK charts. Their best-selling album, Gold – Greatest Hits, is the UK’s second-biggest selling album of all time, having sold more than 5.3 million copies since its release in 1992. Over 3.5 million of those are CD sales, which makes it the UK’s best-selling CD of all time.
