Interview airs on Sept 22nd

ABC News has announced an interview with Ye, formerly known as Kanye West. Tomorrow (Thurs, Sept 22nd) on Good Morning America, Ye sits down with ABC News Live Prime anchor Linsey Davis. In his first network news interview since his divorce from Kim Kardashian was announced, Ye discusses co-parenting, politics, ongoing battles with Gap and Adidas, Donda Academy, his social media use and more.

A portion of the interview will air on GMA at 7 am ET/PT on ABC. An extended version of the interview will air tomorrow on ABC News Live Prime at 7 pm and later on Nightline. “A Conversation with Ye: Linsey Davis Reporting” will be available to stream on Hulu starting tomorrow at 8:30 pm.

West has been in the news lately as he ended his two year relationship with Gap and accuses Adidas of ripping off his designs. Last year, the rapper became the richest black man in US history after Forbes estimated his net worth soared to $6.6 billion due to West’s Yeezy sneaker and apparel company. West retains sole ownership and creative control of the Yeezy brand, which signed a ten year agreement with Gap in 2020 to design and sell clothes under the Yeezy Gap label. His partnership with Adidas is in place to sell footwear until 2026.

Earlier this week, Billboard reported that Ye had been seeking nearly $175 million for the publishing rights to his song catalog. It’s been estimated the rapper is paid $5 million per year in royalties although his songs pull in $13.25 million total. He has a 35% songwriting share from his first four albums and 20% share on the rest.

Ye denies he has anything to do with the catalog shopping, comparing his situation to Taylor Swift’s battle with Big Machine over the rights to her first six albums.

“Just like Taylor Swift,” he writes. “My publishing is being put up for sale without my knowledge. Not for sale.”
