Aerosmith is celebrating 35 years of Pump with a limited edition custom color Andromeda vinyl on October 4th. It features an embossed logo jacket and a bonus seven-inch single with fan favorites “Ain’t Enough” and “Deuces Are Wild” in grape color. The set is available only through aerosmith.com for $49.99.
In celebration, the band has also released a Pump merch collection featuring a 1973 work shirt, track listing t-shirt, album cover t-shirt, crop t-shirt, and much more.
Pump was Aerosmith’s tenth studio album, released on September 12, 1989, via Geffen Records. The album peaked at No. 5 on the US charts and was certified seven times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in 1995.
The album contains the hit singles “Love in an Elevator,” “The Other Side,” “What it Takes,” and “Janie’s Got a Gun,” all of which landed within the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The album earned the band its first Grammy for “Janie’s Got a Gun” while “Love in an Elevator” was the band’s first No. 1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. Pump was recorded at Little Mountain Sound in Vancouver and was the second of three sequential albums produced by Bruce Fairbairn. A video documentary, The Making of Pump, was issued on VHS and LaserDisc in 1990.
Aerosmith performed three shows on its Peace Out farewell tour last year before being forced to postpone indefinitely while Tyler was recovering from a vocal cord injury. After rescheduling the dates for the fall of this year, the band announced its retirement from the road in August, following ongoing vocal struggles by frontman Steven Tyler.
