The songs were written and performed by Karina, Winter, Giselle & Ningning
K-pop powerhouse group Aespa has treated fans to a surprise digital release of four solo tracks, written and performed by each member on their current world tour 2024 Aespa Live Tour – Synk: Parallel Line on Apple Music and Spotify.
This four-track release, Synk: Parallel Line, showcases Karina, Winter, Giselle, and Ningning’s individual charms and artistic prowess across a variety of genres that complement Aespa’s sonic universe.
Karina’s solo song “Up” is a hip-hop dance track, characterised by a bass-heavy beat and an addictive chorus. The confident lyrics, written by Karina herself, makes this the perfect hype track to keep the audience on their feet during aespa’s jam-packed live show.
“Dopamine,” the alluring R&B mid-tempo by Giselle, captures the complex emotions of someone trying to hide her true feelings for a special someone by keeping them at arm’s length. The track is co-written by Giselle with Shintaro Yasuda, who also produced the track, and worked on Ariana Grande’s Eternal Sunshine and Positions albums.
Ningning’s “Bored!” is a stone-cold R&B dance track. The English-language song, with lyrics co-written by Ningning, hears her icily detail her penchant for falling intensely in love but quickly getting bored.
Winter’s solo “Spark,” which she participated in composing and lyric-writing, is a sentimental house-pop banger that describes the feeling of falling deeply in love, starting with a small spark. Much like the unfurling emotions in the song, the dance track gradually builds in intensity to a euphoric drop that makes “Spark” a captivating moment in Aespa’s concert.
Aespa is set to unleash new music with its fifth mini album, Whiplash, on October 21st via SM Entertainment/Virgin Music Group.
The group will kick off the North American leg of their second world tour on January 28, 2025, playing nine dates across the United States, Mexico and Canada before coming to Europe. The group will return to the UK for a sold-out night at London’s OVO Arena Wembley on March 2, 2025, before their stops in Paris, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, and Madrid.
