A digital deluxe edition & limited edition vinyl are due on August 16th
Five-time Grammy Award-nominated multi-platinum Senegalese icon Akon celebrates the 20th anniversary of his platinum-certified full-length debut album, Trouble, with a special digital deluxe edition and limited edition 2 LP vinyl out August 16th via UMG. The digital version consists of 27 songs, comprising the original LP in addition to 15 bonus tracks and remixes. The LP will be available in black and white configurations.
Akon set the stage for its arrival by sharing the previously unreleased “Locked Up (Remix)” featuring Styles P & Taz. It adds another dimension to the double-platinum anthem while preserving the track’s distinct style, spirit, and soul.
Among the unreleased material, the digital edition features a myriad of remixes. Akon collaborates with everyone from Styles P and Taz to Booba and Azad on remixes of “Locked Up.” He also joins forces with P Money (“Keep on Callin’”), Baby Bash (“Baby, I’m Back), The Beatnuts (“Find Us (In the Back of the Club)”), and more for other bonus tracks, speaking to his versatility and delivering the definitive version of Trouble.
Akon originally unveiled Trouble on June 29, 2004. The record amplified his inimitable voice on the global stage and cemented him as an international star with a signature brew of R&B and hip-hop spiked with African flavor. Anchored by “Lonely,” “Locked Up,” and “Bananza (Belly Dancer),” it cracked the Top 20 of the Billboard 200 and soared to No. 1 on the UK Album Chart. It eventually sold two million copies worldwide and picked up a platinum plaque in the United States. Not to mention, it has tallied billions of streams.
