The song follows her acclaimed Rebel era
Christian country platinum singer Anne Wilson launches a deeply personal new chapter with “God Story,” the first taste of new music since her critically acclaimed album Rebel. A soul-stirring anthem of resilience, faith and divine redemption, “God Story” finds Wilson at her most vulnerable, pairing country-pop uplift with faith-fueled fire.
“’God Story’ is so personal to me because it’s about those moments in life where you look back and think, ‘Only God could’ve brought me through that,’” shares Wilson. “We all have a God story — times when He shows up in ways we never expected. My hope is that this song helps people see that even in the middle of the pain or the waiting, God is still writing something beautiful.”
Co-written by Wilson with longtime collaborators Matthew West and Jeff Pardo, the track draws from the heartbreak of losing her brother Jacob. With a voice that’s equal parts broken and bold, Wilson traces those scars of loss and transforms them into a message of healing – the same one she now shares on stage night after night.
In April, Wilson released her Apple Music Sessions EP, a four-song collection that offered a fresh take on fan-favorite worship songs including her own hit “The Cross,” “Graves Into Graves,” “What A Beautiful Name” and a version of “Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)” with Gabby Barrett. She also tied a bow on the Rebel era with Rebel (Revisited), a deluxe version of the album with reimagined takes and powerful acoustic and stripped-down collaborations.
Following her 27-date sold-out The Rebel Tour late last year, Wilson kicked off 2025 with a nationwide run on Winter Jam, culminating its 38-city run in Nashville at Bridgestone Arena. This summer, Wilson will continue to bring her signature blend of worship and country to major Christian and country music festivals before joining Morgan Wallen’s I’m The Problem Tour for select dates.
