First-ever picture book due July 12th

Ashanti has teamed with HarperCollins for the release of her first-ever picture book, My Name is a Story, on July 12th. The book tells the empowering story about a girl who learns to love her unique name.

Inspired by Ashanti’s real-life experiences, the children’s book features illustrations by Monica Mikai that will instill confidence in its readers. Told through the perspective of her younger self, Ashanti celebrates her name’s meaning, spelling, and pronunciation. As she learns more about her name, she learns more about herself. This joyful book is perfect for any child struggling to embrace what makes them special and unique.

“First days aren’t easy for a girl with a name like Ashanti. It feels like no one can pronounce it correctly! But with some encouragement from her mom, Ashanti spells her name and learns just how special it is,” the books synopsis reads.

An unabridged audio book will also be available on CD a week later on July 19th.

Fans who submit a copy of their receipt to the HarperCollins website can receive an exclusive signed bookplate from Ashanti.
