Axl Rose, Mariah Carey top ‘World’s Greatest Singers’ list

Prince, Steven Tyler and James Brown are all on the list

Axl Rose and Mariah Carey top Concert Hotels’ list of the World’s Greatest Singers while Taylor Swift and Luke Bryan come in at the bottom.

The website has posted a list featuring the vocal ranges, highest notes and lowest notes of more than 100 singers and the songs in which they hit those notes. They took Rolling Stone’s 100 Greatest Singers of All Time from 2008 and added some of today’s top singers and cross-referenced the resulting list with vocal range data curated by The Range Place. Rose tops the Vocal Ranges and Lowest Notes list while Carey tops the Highest Notes list and comes in second on Vocal Range.

Country stars Taylor Swift and Luke Bryan come in at the bottom of the Vocal Range list while Swift bottoms out the Lowest Notes list next to Dolly Parton, and Bryan falls directly above last place Johnny Cash on the Highest Notes list.

Prince, Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and James Brown round out the top five of the Vocal Range list while Christina Aguilera, Prince, Rose and Tina Turner round out the top five of the Highest Notes list. Barry White, David Bowie, Tom Waits and Paul McCartney complete the top five of the Lowest Notes list.

Freddie Mercury, Roger Daltry, Robert Plant, Bono, Bruce Springsteen, Eminem, Lou Reed, Brian Wilson, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Kelly Clarkson are among the many others who appear on the three charts.
