GNR reunion featuring Axl Rose, Slash and Duff McKagan is confirmed
Axl Rose, Slash and Duff McKagan have confirmed their reunion as Guns N Roses when they take the stage at Coachella in April. An official press release by the band was sent earlier on Tuesday (Jan 5th), following the Coachella announcement late Monday (Jan 4th) night.
Fans wondering if all five original members, including rhythm guitarist Izzy Stradlin and drummer Steven Adler, would be involved are still left without answers. The press release did not mention any other members’ involvement including other former and recent members.
The reunited Guns N Roses will headline both Saturdays of Coachella, April 16th and 23rd. A 25 date North American tour is also reportedly in the works with GNR asking as much as $3 million per show, with tickets topping out in the $250-$275 range.
It was highly speculated that Rose would announce details of the reunion and possible tour during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on ABC Tuesday (Jan 5th) night, but Kimmel confirmed during Monday’s show that the singer canceled his appearance with no explanation. The Coachella shows will be the first time Rose and Slash have performed together since 1993.
Rumors of a classic Guns N Roses lineup began surfacing since Slash confirmed that he and Rose were back on speaking terms last summer after more than 20 years. The band (most likely Rose) began teasing fans before Christmas by revamping its website to include a classic GNR logo as well as classic merchandising in its store, updating its social media pages with crowd photos, and including a concert trailer before Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
