AXS TV announces ‘America Salutes You: Guitar Legends II’

Six string superstars shine in celebrity benefit concert

AXS TV proudly presents the premiere of the star-studded benefit concert America Salutes You: Guitar Legends II, airing Sunday, March 24th at 9 pm ET/6 pm PT. This marks the second consecutive year that the network has served as the production partner and cable home of the popular concert. Guitar Legends II is the third in a series of events raising funds and awareness for charities dedicated to brain and mental wellness of America’s veterans and first-responders, orchestrated by America Salutes You — a non-profit foundation specializing in benefit concerts for active military, veterans, and their families. The night’s beneficiaries include The Elizabeth Dole Foundation, The David Lynch Foundation, Headstrong, and Entertainment Industries Council.

Filmed live at The Novo theater in Los Angeles on December 2, 2018, America Salutes You: Guitar Legends II captures an impressive roster of six-string savants rocking out for an incredible cause. The night includes performances by beloved showman — and AXS TV star — Sammy Hagar teaming up with Joe Bonamassa and The Doors’ own Robbie Krieger on The Doors’ hit “Roadhouse Blues;” an all-star rendition of “Love The One You’re With,” featuring Krieger, ZZ Top axeman Billy Gibbons, who is making rock and roll history sharing the stage for the first time with rock mainstay Stephen Stills, versatile virtuoso Orianthi, and American Idol standout Haley Reinhart; as well as Emily Estefan’s fierce rendition of “Black Magic Woman;” Living Colour founder Vernon Reid blazing through the Jimi Hendrix staple “Crosstown Traffic;” and a roaring finale that finds the night’s performers collaborating on the War signature “Low Rider,” among many others. The concert also features appearances and performances by Dave Navarro, and Don Felder, all backed by the L.A. All-Stars Kenny Aronoff, Carmine Rojas, LaBamba, Mark Pender, Joe Sublett, Phil LoPresti, and music director Martin Guigui. Special appearances also include Bob Saget and Lifetime Achievement recipients Norman Lear and Joe Mantegna. As part of this premiere event, Pacific Records is releasing a special compilation soundtrack highlighting the unforgettable evening’s best moments.

“AXS TV is proud to continue our partnership with America Salutes You for the second consecutive year,” states Evan Haiman, Vice President of Programming and Development at AXS TV. “Guitar Legends is a heartfelt salute to our men and women in uniform, putting the spotlight on the crucial need for increased funds, awareness, and programs designed to help improve their brain and mental wellness. It is a true honor to be a part of that in any capacity. We would also like to extend our thanks to the Gibson Guitar Team, which graciously allowed us to use their L.A. showroom to film interview segments. We are sincerely grateful to them for helping us make this night even more special.”

Since its founding, AXS TV has established itself as the premier destination for classic rock content, delivering an eclectic programming roster that includes original series such as The Big Interview With Dan Rather, Rock & Roll Road Trip With Sammy Hagar, and Real Money, starring Eddie Money, as well as unprecedented music coverage, hard-hitting mixed martial arts events, and a slate of acclaimed documentaries and iconic concerts from some of music’s most influential artists.
