The band will be celebrated with a month of special programming
AXS TV is showing “A Whole Lotta Love” to rock pioneers Led Zeppelin this September, presenting a roster of classic concerts, insightful interviews and acclaimed documentaries every Tuesday at 10 pm ET/7 pm PT. The special event is headlined by a daylong Saturday Stack: Led Zeppelin lineup on September 29th starting at 1 pm ET/10 am PT.
The Tuesday night set list kicks off on September 4th with the acclaimed 2008 rock doc It Might Get Loud featuring guitar virtuoso Jimmy Page discussing the tools of his legendary trade. On September 11th, the hard rock pioneers blend music with cinema, creating a unique psychedelic odyssey in the 1976 Led Zeppelin: The Song Remains The Same. It Might Get Loud airs again on September 18th, then, Led Zeppelin front man Robert Plant reflects on his childhood in post-war Britain, his biggest musical influences, and the powerful lure of music on The Big Interview With Dan Rather on September 25th.
The month culminates in an epic Saturday Stack block on September 29th, starting at 1 pm ET at as Robert Plant takes the Windy City by storm in an intimate evening featuring Led Zeppelin favorites, solo staples, and more in Robert Plant & The Strange Sensation; followed by Plant’s sit down on The Big Interview With Dan Rather at 2 pm ET; and Jimmy Page in It Might Get Loud at 3 pm ET. Then, Plant puts a new spin on beloved classics such as “What Is And What Should Never Be,” “Rainbow,” and “Little Maggie” in Robert Plant & The Sensational Space Shifters – Live At David Lynch’s Festival Of Disruption at 5 pm ET. The block comes to a close with The Song Remains The Same at 6 pm ET and 10:30 pm ET and It Might Get Loud at 8:30 pm ET.
As part of the group’s 50th anniversary, the band will reissue The Song Remains The Same as a Super Deluxe Boxed Set, 2 CD, 4 vinyl, digital versions, plus the full album’s debut release in Hi-Res 5.1 surround sound on Blu-ray on September 7th via Swan Song/Rhino Records. The projects will feature newly remastered audio supervised by Jimmy Page.
On October 9th, the band will release its first-ever illustrated book, Led Zeppelin by Led Zeppelin. The book is the first and only official book to be produced in full cooperation with surviving members Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones. The 400 page book will be published by Reel Art Press to celebrate fifty years since the formation of the band.
A statue of drummer John Bonham was erected in his hometown of Redditch, England on what would have been his 70th birthday on May 31st, as part of the 50th anniversary. The band’s label, Warner Music Group is said to be lining up “a series of high-profile events” for the milestone.
Last month, rumors of the band reuniting flared up again after the UK’s Daily Star reported that Robert Plant is reconsidering his vow to never reunite the group again by “mulling over” the idea with guitarist Jimmy Page and bassist John Paul Jones. The trio, who would likely be joined by Bonham’s son Jason on drums, are apparently in talks about “hosting events in London in October” that would likely correlate around the book release.
