Although the year is winding down, the music keeps rockin’ at AXS TV, especially on Sunday, December 29th when Def Leppard takes over the network providing exclusive commentary throughout the day’s 12 hours of concerts, including the broadcast premiere of the Def Leppard: Viva! Hysteria concert at 8 pm ET/ 5 pm PT.
Famous for rock classics such as “Rock of Ages,” “Love Bites” and “Pour Some Sugar on Me,” the award-winning band released the concert film, Def Leppard: Viva! Hysteria, nationwide in theaters last October but now, fans will be able to watch it for the first time on broadcast TV. Filmed earlier this year at The Joint inside the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, the concert includes a full, front-to-back, live performance of the 12-time platinum album Hysteria, along with many of the band’s greatest hits.
Viewers will hear firsthand from Def Leppard members, Rick Savage (bass), Joe Elliott (vocals), Rick Allen (drums), Phil Collen (guitar, vocals) and Vivian Campbell (guitar), as they provide behind-the-scenes commentary about their Hysteria album in custom interstitial wraps throughout the marathon.
Def Leppard: Viva! Hysteria is part of a marathon dubbed “Day of Hysteria,” that also includes the broadcast premiere of Cheap Trick at Budokan: The 35th Anniversary Performance — Live From the El Rey Theatre at 9:35 pm ET (6:35 pm PT). AXS TV was on hand to film this historic concert shot at Los Angeles’ El Rey Theatre last April. The GRAMMY Award-winning band performed the identical set they previously played at their legendary show in Budokan, Japan, in 1978. The album, Cheap Trick at Budokan, catapulted the band to super stardom with such hit singles as “I Want You to Want Me,” and “Ain’t That a Shame.”
In addition to these two network premieres, the “Day of Hysteria” marathon also features other concerts such as New York Dolls, Bon Jovi – Lost Highway Tour, Sammy Hagar and Friends and KISS Monster World Tour: Live From Europe.
AXS TV is giving away Def Leppard prizes to commemorate “Day In Hysteria.” Fans can sign up to win autographed copies of Viva! Hysteria, vintage 1987 Hysteria Tour t-shirts and Hysteria lithographs.
