Sibling trio will pursue other endeavors
The Band Perry featuring siblings Kimberly, Reid and Neil Perry have announced that they’re breaking up to pursue “individual creative pursuits.” The trio shared the news on social media on Monday (Mar 27th), thanking fans for their continued support.
“We wanted to let you know that the three of us have decided to take a creative break as a group and each focus on our individual creative pursuits. During this season we will continue to support each other as artists and family in all we do. Thank you making our childhood dreams come true!”
The Band Perry started out as a country hitmaking trio after signing with Big Machine Label Group/Republic Nashville in 2009. They released two albums with the label that include a string of hits that started with “Hip to My Heart” in 2010. In 2015, the group recorded a third album, Heart+Beat, that was set to feature a variety of producers including RedOne and Diplo, but was never released by Big Machine. They’re last single with the label was in 2015 with “Live Forever” which saw the trio move more towards pop.
The group severed ties with their original country label Republic Nashville/Big Machine in 2016 and then again with Interscope in 2017. The Interscope deal saw the band transitioning from country to pop but the album, My Bad Imagination, was also never released, with songs like “Comeback Kid” and “Stay In The Dark” not faring well at radio.
In 2014, The Band Perry covered the Glen Campbell hit “Gentle On My Mind” that was part of the Glen Campbell: I’ll Be Me documentary soundtrack.
The group’s last project was Coordinates EP in 2018, produced by Rick Rubin, and released on their own Artrat label.
The trio’s last batch of music came in 2019 when they released “The Good Life” and “Nite Swim.”
