Upon its release, the collaboration with Florida Georgia Line broke records on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart
Billboard has unveiled its definitive list of the biggest 21st Century Hits with Bebe Rexha’s record-breaking single “Meant To Be” being crowned the No. 1 position. A landmark moment for modern country and crossover music, “Meant To Be” featuring Florida Georgia Line is part of Billboard’s 100-position retrospective chart, which ranks the most impactful country singles from 2000–2024 based on their performance on the weekly Hot Country Songs chart.
Originally released in December 2017, the track spent a record-breaking 50 weeks at No. 1, the longest reign since the chart began in 1958. Its blend of country storytelling and pop hooks made it a massive crossover success, also peaking in the Top 5 on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 and resonating with fans across multiple radio formats. The song is certified gold, platinum, multi-platinum, and diamond in more than 15 countries worldwide. With the song, Rexha became the first solo female artist to debut at No. 1 on the Hot Country Songs chart.
Following the news of the songs’ historic achievement, Rexha took to her socials posting her statement, “Still trying to find the words… ‘Meant to Be’ was just named the #1 country song of the 21st century by Billboard. 🥹 This was so unexpected. By May 2018, “Meant to Be” had already surpassed one billion total streams globally. As of June 2025, it has over 1.47 billion streams on Spotify alone, making it one of Bebe Rexha’s most streamed songs. In 2019, “Meant to Be” won the ACM Music Event of the Decade Award from the Academy of Country Music, recognizing its significant impact on country music. It won Top Country Song at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards, and received numerous awards from BMI (Broadcast Music, Inc.) for its success in both pop and country categories. Finally, the song was nominated for Best Country Duo/Group Performance at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards.
