Beyonce drops out of Coachella, will headline 2018

The singer is pregnant with twins

Beyonce has dropped out of headlining Coachella 2017, due to her pregnancy with twins, but will headline in 2018. The Associated Press reports that doctor’s orders have prevented the singer from performing this year.

“Following the advice of her doctors to keep a less rigorous schedule in the coming months, Beyonce has made the decision to forgo performing at the 2017 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival,” Beyonce’s Parkwood Entertainment and festival producer Goldenvoice said in a joint statement. “However, Goldenvoice and Parkwood are pleased to confirm that she will be a headliner at the 2018 festival. Thank you for your understanding.”

No announcement has been made of who will replace Beyonce as headliner for Saturday, April 15th and 22nd, but Radiohead will headline Friday, April 14th and 21st and Kendrick Lamar will close Sunday, April 16th and 23rd. Coachella will be held in Indio, CA.

Last month, Beyonce made headlines when she announced on Instagram that she and husband/rapper Jay Z are expecting twins.

“We would like to share our love and happiness. We have been blessed two times over. We are incredibly grateful that our family will be growing by two, and we thank you for your well wishes. – The Carters”

The couple have not released details on when she’s expected to give birth.

Beyonce has not performed a solo show at Coachella before, but did last appear at the festival in 2014 when she danced on stage during her sister Solange Knowles’ set. The singer’s last public performance was earlier this month at the Grammys when she picked up a pair of awards for her Lemonade set.
