Track is first single from forthcoming Renaissance album

Beyoncé Knowles is dropping “Break My Soul” tonight (Mon, June 20th) at midnight ET/9 pm PT. The singer announced the news on her social media profiles and not as a post.

The track is the first single, and presumably track six, from her forthcoming Act 1: Renaissance album that’s due July 29th. The star announced the album news last week by launching pre-save and pre-add links via her website.

The 16 song set will be released via her own Parkwood Entertainment, in partnership with Columbia Records, and is expected include both dance and country-leaning tracks, according to Variety.

Four exclusive beyonce.com box sets will begin shipping on July 29th with two already sold out. Each limited edition collectible Renaissance box, available for $39.99, will include the album on CD and one of four Beyonce poses printed on a unisex t-shirt with front and back graphics.

The CD will be available in a four panel softpak with 28 page photo booklet and collectible mini poster.

The album’s cover art and track listing will be available at a later date.

This will be the first album since 2016’s Lemonade. Her last taste of new music was released in 2019 with the self-curated The Lion King: The Gift album, a musical ode to the classic story of Disney’s The Lion King feature film. Directed by Jon Favreau, the film includes the new original song, “Spirit,” performed by Beyoncé. The song was written specifically for the film by IIya Salmanzadeh, Timothy McKenzie and Beyoncé and is produced by Beyoncé and IIya and Labrinth.
