Billy Joel, Sting announce Citi Field co-headlining concert

The concert is the third by Joel in the New York and New Jersey area this summer

Billy Joel and Sting have announced a one-night-only performance at Citi Field in Queens, New York, on Thursday, August 21st. The iconic musicians will each perform their most beloved songs throughout their illustrious careers. The spectacular show promises to be an unforgettable evening of live music.

The performance will mark Joel’s first concert appearance at Citi Field after headlining the final two shows at Shea Stadium in 2008. make his first appearance at Citi Field. As a member of The Police, Sting performed at Shea Stadium on August 18, 1983.

“We’re thrilled to host Billy Joel and Sting at Citi Field this summer as part of our ongoing concert lineup for 2025,” states Mets VP of Events Nikki Romolo. “Throughout Mets history, there’s always been a special connection with Billy Joel and the Mets. From closing Shea Stadium with the two final concerts in 2008, performing the ‘Star Spangled Banner’ before the 2015 World Series, to ‘Piano Man’ echoing throughout Citi Field regularly during games. We’re looking forward to welcoming this native New Yorker home for his first concert at Citi Field.”

Presales start on Monday, February 10th at 10 am local time ahead of the general sale on Friday, February 14th.

This is the third area concert Joel has announced for the New York and New Jersey region this summer as part of his One Night Only concert series, featuring Sting, Rod Stewart, and Stevie Nicks on select nights. Joel and Stewart will co-headline a concert at New York City’s Yankee Stadium on July 18th while Joel and Nicks will perform at East Rutherford’s MetLife Stadium on August 8th.

Additional stops include Indianapolis, Syracuse, Charlotte, and Salt Lake City with Sting; Pittsburgh with Stewart; and Detroit’s Ford Field with Nicks on March 29th. The Piano Man will also perform solo dates throughout 2025.

Last July, Joel wrapped a ten-year residency at Madison Square Garden with his 150th-lifetime performance at the historic New York City venue.
