AXS TV is proud to present the broadcast of the iconic concert special Bob Dylan: The 30th Anniversary Concert Celebration on Sunday, June 26th at 8 pm ET / 5 pm PT. Filmed live at Madison Square Garden, Bob Dylan: The 30th Anniversary Concert Celebration brings an eclectic blend of industry legends together, as they honor the icon that inspired them all—the inimitable Bob Dylan—on the 30th anniversary of his first recording. Filling in as the house band for the festivities is an all-star lineup featuring Booker T. Jones on organ; Donald “Duck” Dunn on bass; and Anton Fig and Jim Keltner on drums, Steve Cropper on guitar, with fan-favorite Saturday Night Live bandleader G.E. Smith serving as musical director.
Highlights of the evening include powerful renditions of some of Dylan’s most enduring songs, including “Like A Rolling Stone” by John Mellencamp; “Blowin’ In The Wind” by Stevie Wonder; “Foot Of Pride” by Lou Reed; “Masters Of War” by Pearl Jam founders Eddie Vedder and Mike McCready; “It Ain’t Me Babe” by June Carter Cash and Johnny Cash; “What Was It You Wanted?” by Willie Nelson; “All Along The Watchtower” by Neil Young; “Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right” by Eric Clapton; “Emotionally Yours” by The O’Jays; “Absolutely Sweet Marie” by George Harrison; “Rainy Day Women #12 & 35” by Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers; and many more. The man of honor closes out the concert with a four-song set, performing “It’s Alright, Ma (I’m Only Bleeding)” and “Girl From The North Country,” and teaming up with the night’s guests on “My Back Pages” and “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door.”
In addition, AXS TV’s “Pioneers of Rock” marathon puts the spotlight on some of the decade’s most beloved bands, with a roster of documentaries and concert films featuring surf rock pioneers The Beach Boys in the acclaimed 2012 documentary The Beach Boys – Doin’ It Again (12:30 pm), followed by The Beach Boys 50 – Live In Concert (2:30 pm), Ringo Starr: A Lifetime of Peace And Love (2:45 pm), Crosby, Stills & Nash 2012 (3:55 pm), and Led Zeppelin: Celebration Day (5:40 pm), leading up to the premiere of Bob Dylan: The 30th Anniversary Concert Celebration (8 pm),. Then, stay tuned for the classic concert Brian Wilson & Friends: Live From The Venetian (11:10 pm), immediately after.
