Auction takes place July 7th

Bob Dylan’s re-recording of “Blowin’ In The Wind,” 60 years after its original, is heading to the auction block via Christie’s. The company will offer the one-of-a-kind pressing on T Bone Burnett’s new Ionic Original format on July 7th in London.

“Sixty years after Bob first wrote and recorded ‘Blowin’ In The Wind,’ he is giving us a new recording of his song; one that is both deeply relevant for our times and resonant with decades of the artist’s life and experience. We’re grateful to Christie’s for their belief in the ‘Ionic Original’ and for presenting Bob’s masterful recording to the world in a unique and meaningful way,” Burnett shares in a statement.

Burnett introduced the hybrid CD/vinyl format last month through his NeoFidelity, Inc. Ionic Originals are created from an aluminum disc like a CD, with a spiral etched into it by music like a vinyl. The vinyl-sized format features one-of-a-kind pressings that surpasses the sonic fidelity of vinyl, CD and streaming platforms.

Dylan is the first to issue music on the format. In 2021, Dylan entered a studio with Burnett to re-record some of his iconic hits for the format.
