RSD 2020 is Saturday, April 18th

Brandi Carlile has been named as 2020 Record Store Day Ambassador. The country and folk singer will be the face of the upcoming “holiday” on April 18th when fans flock to independent record stores worldwide for exclusive and one-off physical releases not available anywhere else.

“When I started playing guitar and writing songs in my bedroom I would daydream about making albums that a person might stumble across by flipping through the alphabetically organized bins at the record store. They’d see The Cars, then Belinda Carlisle, then there I’d be…just waiting to be noticed by a proper music fan out for a day of discovery. Maybe if I had a cool enough shirt on or just the right font they’d pick up my album and take it home,” Carlile shares.

She continues, “We’ve covered every square inch of this country and visited damn near every record store it has to offer and I still believe these places are the heart and soul of American music.”

Fans can get a sneak peek at Carlile’s own record collection and the studio where she makes her own music in her Ambassador Announcement.

The full list of releases is expected in March, but labels have begun unveiling titles. Two David Bowie projects will be available including a previously unreleased live album. Previous RSD Ambassadors include Pearl Jam, Run The Jewels, Dave Grohl, Metallica, Jack White, St. Vincent, Ozzy Osbourne, Iggy Pop and Chuck D, just to name a few.
