Second half of tour kicks off this weekend
The second half of The Stadium Tour with Mötley Crüe, Def Leppard, Poison and Joan Jett & The Blackhearts kicks off tonight (Fri, Aug 5th) with back-to-back nights at Boston’s Fenway Park. In celebration, Poison frontman Bret Michaels has shared a small sample of exclusive photos he’ll be releasing early next week via his website.
Among the samples is one of Michaels taking oxygen after his diabetes combined with severe dehydration forced the band to cancel their Nashville appearance on June 30th. Michaels calls the incident “the personal low of the first half” of the trek. Another picture captures Michaels handing a fan a guitar at Hershey Park Stadium while others portray the rocker “smiling and flying. Another captures his infamous “Bret bounce” on stage, and fans will also learn how a photo of himself and tour mates Def Leppard came together.
“As the second half of The Stadium Tour kicks off, for two sold out nights at Fenway Park in Boston, of my favorite places in the world and a place that I have seen many a Red Sox game with amazing friends, fans and family pictured in my new Auto-Scrap-Ography, I can’t help but reflect upon the first half of The Stadium Tour,” Michaels shares of the project he teased earlier this week with Eddie Trunk.
“I wanted to give you a sneak preview this weekend of my exclusive personal photo journal and never-before-seen photos that give you an in depth look of my highs and lows on the first half of The Stadium Tour.”
The Stadium Tour kicked off in June after a two year delay due to the pandemic. Due to popular demand, additional dates were added, extending the trek to 36 cities. Twenty-five stops have sold out while amassing over one million tickets sold to eager fans wanting to see Mötley Crüe return seven years after their Cessation of Touring agreement. The band destroyed the contract following a massive surge in new audience after the huge success of their Netflix biopic The Dirt.
Next year, Michaels is plotting an “incredible amphitheater tour” in 2023 with his solo band called the Parti Gras Tour. The Poison frontman shared the news on SiriusXM’s Trunk Nation with Eddie Trunk on August 1st, stating his solo run has been pushed back due to this year’s launch of The Stadium Tour. Michaels also confirmed that Poison will be taking a break after The Stadium Tour concludes with plans to launch a global trek in 2025.
