Band continues The Stadium Tour in Jacksonville
Poison frontman Bret Michaels has promised to give Jacksonville the best show he can after a recent health scare. The rockers are set to perform in the Florida city today (Sat, July 2nd) as part of The Stadium Tour. It marks the first performance since Michaels was hospitalized on Thursday in Nashville.
“In light of my recent medical situation & treatment, I’m very excited to try to attempt to bring all the positive energy, vocals and give you all that I have on stage tonight. I promise, as always, to do the best I can and give you all I got,” he shares on social media.
Poison canceled Thursday’s gig at Nissan Stadium in Nashville due to Michaels falling ill and being hospitalized. Michaels’ bandmates — CC DeVille, Rikki Rockett and Bobby Dall — took to the stage to share the news before what would’ve been their performance time. They said Michaels had suffered from an allergic reaction medication, but it was not revealed that it was COVID related, although earlier reports indicate Michaels had tested positive earlier in the day.
The group had also canceled the VIP meet and greet due to a positive COVID case within the Poison touring party. Today’s meet and greet was scheduled as promised sans Michaels.
“As for the awesome Poison meet & greet, you know I always give 1000% both during the meet and greet and on stage. Doctors have highly recommended that I continue to rest and try to save all the energy I can for the show,” he adds. “Therefore, I will not be able to be at the meet and greet this evening. I encourage you to go see the other guys and enjoy the meet and greet. Thank you for all your well wishes and understanding. Florida, you now I love you.”
The group is currently supporting The Stadium Tour with Mötley Crüe, Def Leppard and Joan Jett & The Blackhearts. The shows kicked off earlier this month after a two year delay due to the pandemic. The Crüe’s closing DC performance last week was also delayed to lightning. The took the stage after a 90 minute rain delay.
Due to popular demand, additional dates were added, extending the trek to 36 cities. Twenty-five stops have sold out while amassing over one million tickets sold to eager fans wanting to see Mötley Crüe return seven years after their Cessation of Touring agreement. The band destroyed the contract following a massive surge in new audience after the huge success of their Netflix biopic The Dirt.
