Music legend Brian Wilson will hit the road this summer with his band, touring to more than 15 U.S. cities. Wilson will perform songs from his forthcoming Capitol album, No Pier Pressure, due April 7th, as well as top hits and fan favorites spanning his 50-year career with The Beach Boys and as a solo artist. Rodriguez, star of the Oscar-winning documentary Searching for Sugarman, will open the concerts with a special set. Wilson will also be joined by former bandmates Al Jardine and Blondie Chaplin.
Wilson has also announced that he will be touring arenas across the UK this September. Wilson will be bringing the sound of California to British shores for a limited run of shows and will be bringing classic rockers America and Scottish indie innovator Edwyn Collins with him to arenas in the UK.
For the eight UK shows Wilson will be joined by fellow Beach Boys Al Jardine and Blondie Chaplin. Also on the bill are classic rock favorites, America. Marking their 45th anniversary after meeting at high school in London in the 1960s and going on to become a household name with hits like their #1 single ‘A Horse With No Name’ and ‘I Need You’. The individual band member’s composite sound of melodic pop rock and elements of folk, jazz and Latin inspired rhythms and image fuelled lyricism would go beyond their biggest hits and earn them a huge loyal following and six certified gold and/or platinum albums.
For his 11th solo studio album, No Pier Pressure, Wilson has returned to Capitol Records, his original label home with The Beach Boys. Available now for preorder, the album will be released April 7th in standard 13-track and deluxe 16-track editions, each in CD and digital formats, as well as a 16-track 2 LP edition on 180-gram vinyl. No Pier Pressure’s digital preorder provides an instant download of its lead track, “The Right Time,” featuring vocals by Wilson and Al Jardine, and guitar by David Marks.
In theaters June 5th, Roadside Attractions’ Brian Wilson biopic Love & Mercy presents an unconventional portrait of the music legend. Directed by Bill Pohlad, starring John Cusack, Paul Dano, Elizabeth Banks and Paul Giamatti. Love & Mercy made it’s U.S. film festival premiere on March 16th at SXSW Film.
U.S. tickets are now on sale through Ticketmaster and range from $55 to $150. Tickets for the UK shows are available from 9 am on Friday, March 27th through Live Nation. UK prices are £ 75/ £65 /£55 and regionally £65/£55/£45 (plus booking fees).
