Classical versions of pop songs will be included in Season 3: Part 1
As the Bridgerton franchise returns for its highly anticipated third season with part one premiering on May 16th and part two on June 13th, prepare to be swept away again by its unique musical touch. Season three will captivate viewers worldwide with a fresh blend of orchestral pop covers and original compositions infusing a modern twist into the Regency-era romance. Broken into two parts and officially released by Capitol Records, music from Season 3: Part 1 will be released tonight (Thurs, May 16th).
In Season 3: Part 1, acclaimed composer Kris Bowers orchestrates a stunning original score, accompanied by a lineup of contemporary pop songs transformed into elegant instrumental covers. From Billie Eilish’s “Happier Than Ever,” BTS’s “Dynamite” and Sia’s “Cheap Thrills” reimagined by Vitamin String Quartet to Nick Jonas’s “Jealous” covered by Shimmer and Taylor Swift and Lana Del Rey’s “Snow On The Beach” covered by Atwood Quartet, the soundtrack promises to charm.
With both seasons one and two included on Netflix’s Most Popular of All Time list, Bridgerton’s iconic soundtracks are beloved for their ability to bridge the gap between classical and contemporary music. The cover soundtracks for seasons one and two debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard classical charts and within a month of the release of season one, Vitamin String Quartet had a 350% increase in the number of people streaming their work when it was featured in season two2 – a testament to the series’ enduring musical influence.
From Shondaland and new showrunner, Jess Brownell, Bridgerton is back for its third season and finds Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) has finally given up on her long-held crush on Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) after hearing his disparaging words about her last season. She has, however, decided it’s time to take a husband, preferably one who will provide her with enough independence to continue her double life as Lady Whistledown, far away from her mother and sisters. But lacking in confidence, Penelope’s attempts on the marriage mart fail spectacularly. Meanwhile, Colin has returned from his summer travels with a new look and a serious sense of swagger. But he’s disheartened to realize that Penelope, the one person who always appreciated him as he was, is giving him the cold shoulder. Eager to win back her friendship, Colin offers to mentor Penelope in the ways of confidence to help her find a husband this season. But when his lessons start working a little too well, Colin must grapple with whether his feelings for Penelope are truly just friendly. Complicating matters for Penelope is her rift with Eloise (Claudia Jessie), who has found a new friend in a very unlikely place, while Penelope’s growing presence in the ton makes it all the more difficult to keep her Lady Whistledown alter ego a secret.
