Pop superstar Britney Spears has announced that she will headline a two year residency at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas. Britney: Piece of Me was made official on Tuesday (Sept 17th) with a live announcement on ABC’s Good Morning America.
Spears made the concert announcement live from the Mojave Desert with 1,300 fans who were bused in for the spectacle to perform a large card stunt that could be seen from space. TMZ indicates the concert announcement cost roughly $100,000 and consisted of 28 buses, tents, craft services that contained 2,100 bottles of water, coffee, 918 Gatorades and 567 Red Bulls, and that Spears flew in by helicopter.
The shows begin December 27th and are described as a “marriage of high-end fashion, state of the art technology and slick nightclub panache” from the newly-reconstructed Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino Las Vegas that is said to contain the largest indoor immersive projection theater.
Spears is said to be netting nearly $30 million for the 96 shows (48 shows per year) that will feature 20 of the singer’s worldwide smash singles and bring fans closer to the entertainer.
An American Express pre-sale is begins September 17th with Total Rewards members having a chance to pre-order beginning September 19th. Tickets go on sale to the general public on September 20th at 10 am PST through Ticketmaster, and range from $66.50 to $194 per ticket including taxes and fees.
Four VIP ticket packages will also be available that include one reserved seat, VIP backstage tour, meet and greet with Spears’ dancers, acrobats, aerialists and band, catered pre-show party, preferred parking, separate VIP entrance, commemorative laminate and lanyard, exclusive Britney Spears gift bag and merchandise as well as a limited edition souvenir tour ticket. Each VIP package varies accordingly and does not feature all the aforementioned bonuses. Prices range from $500 to $1,500.
Fans expecting to meet Spears as part of any VIP package will be disappointed. Ticketmaster has released the following disclaimer: “Britney Spears WILL NOT PARTICIPATE in any Meet & Greet or pre/post show activities.” Also, all VIP packages and ringside seats are “to be sold in pairs,” so better buddy up!
