Britney Spears musical making 2023 Broadway premiere

Shows start in May

Oh baby baby, the Britney Spears musical, Once Upon a One More Time, will arrive on Broadway in the spring. The new musical will begin with preview performances on May 13th at the Marquis Theatre and officially open on June 22nd.

The production features Spears hits, such as “Oops I Did It Again,” “Lucky,” “Circus” and “Toxic.” The play was written by Jon Hartmere and is directed and choreographed by Keone & Mari Madrid.

Cinderella, Snow White, The Little Mermaid and others are flipping their scripts — empowered by the chart-topping hits of the undisputed Princess of Pop — Once Upon a One More Time weaves the definitive hits of Spears into an original story that proves there’s more to life than finding a prince.

Every fortnight, when our storybook heroines gather for book club, they always discuss the same book, Grimm’s Fairy Tales — because as far as they know, it’s the only book that’s ever been written. That’s when a rogue fairy godmother drops The Feminine Mystique into their corseted laps. From now on, “happily ever after” will never be the same. It’s the ultimate revisionist fairy tale that’ll make you feel stronger than yesterday.

Casting has not been announced. Tickets on sale December 5th.

The production made its world premiere last November in Washington, DC with an all-star cast.
