The duo will return to Lubbock a week later than expected
Brooks & Dunn have been forced to postpone tonight’s (Thurs, Mar 13th) kick off of their 2025 Neon Moon Tour after an explosion on the Texas Tech University campus in Lubbock forced evacuations due to power outages and a gas odor. The duo’s concert has been rescheduled for Thursday, March 20th. All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the new date with additional tickets available. Those who are unable to attend can request a refund at their original point of purchase.
Last night (Wed, Mar 12th), the university published a TechAlert that an explosion at a substation was to blame, forcing Spring Break to begin earlier than expected.
“An explosion at a manhole has affected multiple locations on the Texas Tech campus, causing widespread power outages to both Texas Tech University and Health Sciences Center,” university personnel share.
The Engineering Key was evacuated due to a gas odor and students residing on campus were urged to follow evacuation notices. The Lubbock Fire Department responded to the area for a possible gas leak around 7 pm yesterday when they discovered smoke and fire coming from multiple manhole covers.
Although power has been restored to parts of the campus as of this morning, the university remains closed through tomorrow.
The 12-date 2025 Neon Moon Tour now kicks off at Austin’s Moody Center tomorrow night. It wraps on April 26th with a performance in Louisville, Kentucky. David Lee Murphy will open all shows on the tour.
Ahead of the tour, Kix Brooks & Ronnie Dunn performed two shows in California over the weekend as part of the Boots in the Park festivals. On Friday, they returned to Bakersfield for the first time in 20 years to play their first show — and the festival’s 2025 kickoff — of the year. The next night, they headlined the Norco event in Southern California with Parker McCollum joining them on stage.
