Event was slated for September 4th in Germany
Live Nation has postponed its long-awaited restart of large-scale live music events in Germany featuring Bryan Adams, due to upticks of COVID-19 cases in the region. On September 4th, Adams was set to headline the first major concert in the area since the lockdown began five months ago. The event was slated for an outdoor stadium in Düsseldorf on September 4th featuring more than seven thousand fans, who will now be refunded.
The Give Live A Chance concert has to be postponed to late autumn due to the latest developments, according to Live Nation Germany. Despite a convincing hygiene and protection concept, the organizers felt compelled to take this step in view of the increasing number of infections and subsequent capacity restrictions that resulted in general uncertainty.
“We are still of the opinion that our catalog of measures offers fans, artists and employees comprehensive protection,” shares Give Live A Chance organizer Marek Lieberberg in a statement. “Unfortunately, the current atmosphere prevents a consensus. That is why they want to realize the project at a later date. An early, gradual lifting of the audience limits for culture and sport can no longer be postponed.”
Lieberberg expressed the conviction that the return to live music must take place with full capacity in the foreseeable future, “because the longing of fans and artists cannot be suppressed in the long run! The Düsseldorf model is and will remain the right approach to gradually return to normal concert events. Politics has an obligation and responsibility to live music, to pave the way back to normal for this heart of modern culture. One hundred fifty thousand suspended employees in this diverse and essential industry, tens of thousands of artists and millions of followers are waiting for this.”
The concert was also set to feature Sarah Connor, Rea Garvey, The BossHoss, Joris and Michael Mittermeier.
No new date has been set as of press time.
