Song marks band’s fourth ascent at top

BTS’ latest summer hit “Butter” debuts at No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, marking their fourth chart-topping single, all of them collected in less than a year. This makes them the first group to have a trio of No. 1 entrances as well as the fastest group to run their first four No. 1 singles since the Jackson 5 in 1970.

“We released ‘Butter’ to bring a fun song that anyone can enjoy,” shares the band. “We’re happy and honored that the song reached No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 again. We wouldn’t have gotten our fourth chart topping song without everyone’s love and support. Thank you for enjoying ‘Butter’ and we will keep working hard to deliver refreshing and passionate music.”

The track became the most streamed song in a single day in Spotify’s history, amassing 20.9 million global streams on the first day. The accompanying music video also set a new all time 24 hour record of 108.2 million views and the biggest music video Premiere on YouTube with 3.9 million peak concurrents.

BTS is celebrating its eighth anniversary with BTS 2021 Muster Sowoozoo, a two day livestreaming event on June 13th and 14th. The the second date, dubbed “World Tour Version,” will contain some of their foreign language songs.

The group swept the three categories they were nominated in last week’s iHeartRadio Music Awards. The K-pop stars won three socially voted categories they were nominated: “Best Fan Army” for BTSARMY, Best Music Video for “Dynamite” and “Favorite Music Video Choreography” for “Dynamite.” They also swept all four Billboard Music Awards categories they were nominated, including Top Group/Duo, Top Song Sales Artist, Top Selling Song for “Dynamite,” and the fan voted Top Social Artist for the fifth year.

The group has released CONNECT BTS, E-BOOK and CONNECT, BTS FONT that celebrate the first anniversary of the closure of the CONNECT, BTS, an art exhibit that connected 22 contemporary artists across five contents. Both are available free online through April 30th with a limited amount of physical copies to be printed and distributed to galleries, artists, and curators who participated in the project.
