Pearce will perform the single at Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade
Carly Pearce is celebrating her new single, “Closer To You” as the lead single from her sophomore record, due in 2019 via Big Machine Records. With two shows tonight (Fri, Nov 2nd) for Opry at the Ryman, Pearce will give fans in Nashville a live preview as fans across coast-to-coast have already boosted “Closer To You” into the upper echelon on the iTunes Top Country Songs chart already nearing No. 5.
“I’ve always been the type of artist who wants to record the best songs, even if I didn’t have a hand in writing them,” Pearce shares. “‘Closer To You’ is one of those songs that instantly spoke to me and painted a beautiful picture of where I’m at right now. I’m so excited to share this next chapter with my fans and hope they love it as much as I do!”
She returned to the studio with frequent collaborator and esteemed producer Busbee to record the Hillary Lindsey, Gordie Sampson, Troy Verges-crafted song that ABC News Radio muses is, “romantic, danceable.” Saccharine-infused “ooooos” lead into a pulsating chorus with lyrics that mirror Pearce’s own romantic status, she beams: Heart to heart, face to face / You know all I wanna do / Is get closer, closer, closer to you / Closer to you. Taste of Country describes the new single as, “A dreamy arrangement built by acoustic guitars with electric overdubs recalls the good-timing ’90s suddenly en vogue. With a wide smile, she leans hard into the endless bliss of young love.” Rolling Stone concurs, “it’s an up-tempo ode to being in love that melds Nineties country slickness with a bit of R&B and nods to her traditionalist roots, thanks to the dobro playing of her longtime band member Josh Matheny. It also showcases Pearce’s unique vocal command, which bends and holds the notes in unexpected ways and taps effortlessly at the top of her range.”
Pearce will perform “Closer To You” as part of this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on NBC November 22nd. The anticipation-filled moment is one that has long been on her bucket list, recalling, “our family watches the Macy’s Parade every year as part of our Thanksgiving traditions so to say I’m thrilled is an understatement. I can’t wait to see all of the floats and experience the morning on truly another level.”
This Monday, November 5th, audiences will be reminded of how Pearce has defied the odds and become “Country’s ‘it’ girl” (ABC News Radio) as she takes the stage on Dancing With The Stars. The Kentucky native will perform her chart-topping debut “Every Little Thing” on the hit ABC show, airing at 8 pm ET/PT. The searing, gold-certified ballad steered a chart-topping trifecta on SiriusXM’s The Highway that also includes “If My Name Was Whiskey” and “Hide The Wine” while solidifying her the highest charting solo female debut since July 2015.
The excitement of 2018 has seen Pearce nominated for ACM Awards New Female Vocalist of the Year, win CMT Music Awards Breakthrough Video of the Year for “Every Little Thing” and Radio Disney Music Award The Freshest! – Radio Disney Country Best New Artist, plus score a coveted slot on four major tours with Blake Shelton, Thomas Rhett, Rascal Flatts and Luke Bryan, including stadium dates.
