“Show Me Around” honors late producer

Filling the silence of loss and sadness with a heartfelt tribute, Carly Pearce wrote “Show Me Around” for her champion Busbee and his family following the late producer’s unexpected death last year. The song was penned alongside their frequent collaborator Emily Shackelton and Ben West with powerful lyrics: “I bet you’re up there right now/Making plans and writing out/All your favorite places /That you just can’t wait to take us/And we’ll get to spend forever talking ‘bout whatever/When I get there, promise you’ll track me down/And show me around.”

“As my mentor and friend, Busbee helped me share the parts of my own life that I could only explain through music. He holds such a sweet place in my heart, and I truly hope ‘Show Me Around’ brings comfort to his wife Jess and their three little girls. At his funeral, a songwriter that all of us in Nashville love named Barry Dean gave a speech that painted the most beautiful picture of Heaven. There is no way to ease the pain of losing someone you love, this felt like a really hopeful way to look at our loved ones meeting us again one day and showing us around,” expresses Pearce, who earlier this week shared some others’ sweet sentiments upon hearing the track.

Pearce will return to the Grand Ole Opry on Saturday (Dec 5th) to perform the song, which she debuted during her 75th appearance in June before concluding with a song special to them both, “Every Little Thing.” The platinum-certified ballad became her first No. 1 and offered a reminder of how honest collaborations can bring light out of darkness. Leading up to the show that night, she will show audiences some of her favorite spots around the legendary venue with an Instagram takeover. This week, Pearce spoke with WSM Radio’s Coffee, Country and Cody about his legacy and embracing the genre from the revered stage. The rich sonic textures she grew up on are also highlighted in her looking-out-for-your-sister cautionary tale, “Next Girl” (Big Machine Records), which is finding solid footing up the country radio charts.

Friday (Dec 4th), the Kentucky native who left high school for a job at Dollywood embraces a full circle moment with the Pandora LIVE Holiday Special with Dolly Parton & Friends. The free Pandora Live show starts at 9 pm ET.

The music and stories continue on Sunday (Dec 6th) at 10 pm ET as Pearce joins Instrumenthead Live presents Paste Studio on the Road: Nashville on Paste Magazine’s YouTube channel.
