Beyonce drops out of Coachella, will headline 2018

The singer is pregnant with twins

Beyonce has dropped out of headlining Coachella 2017, due to her pregnancy with twins, but will headline in 2018. The Associated Press reports that doctor’s orders have prevented the singer from performing this year.

“Following the advice of her doctors to keep a less rigorous schedule in the coming months, Beyonce has made the decision to forgo performing at the 2017 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival,” Beyonce’s Parkwood Entertainment and festival producer Goldenvoice said in a joint statement. “However, Goldenvoice and Parkwood are pleased to confirm that she will be a headliner at the 2018 festival. Thank you for your understanding.”

No announcement has been made of who will replace Beyonce as headliner for Saturday, April 15th and 22nd, but Radiohead will headline Friday, April 14th and 21st and Kendrick Lamar will close Sunday, April 16th and 23rd. Coachella will be held in Indio, CA.

Last month, Beyonce made headlines when she announced on Instagram that she and husband/rapper Jay Z are expecting twins.

“We would like to share our love and happiness. We have been blessed two times over. We are incredibly grateful that our family will be growing by two, and we thank you for your well wishes. – The Carters”

The couple have not released details on when she’s expected to give birth.

Beyonce has not performed a solo show at Coachella before, but did last appear at the festival in 2014 when she danced on stage during her sister Solange Knowles’ set. The singer’s last public performance was earlier this month at the Grammys when she picked up a pair of awards for her Lemonade set.

Diane Warren awarded with ASCAP Founders Award

Diane Warren

ASCAP, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, will present acclaimed songwriter Diane Warren with its prestigious Founders Award at its 34th annual ASCAP Pop Music Awards on Thursday, May 18th. The exclusive, invitation-only gala, which celebrates the songwriters and publishers of ASCAP’s most performed pop songs of 2016, takes place at The Wiltern in Los Angeles, CA.

“Diane Warren is one of the most continuously prolific and successful contemporary songwriters of our time,” states ASCAP President Paul Williams. “Her music evokes universal emotions that connect us in a way few songwriters can. Diane’s ability to channel our common experience through her songs has captured audiences all over the world.”

“I am honored to be receiving the Founders Award and to be among the names of songwriters whom I admire and respect so much,” says Warren. “I am grateful for the success I have had with my songs but to be honest, I feel like my career is just beginning.”

In the course of her impressive career, Diane Warren has written for iconic artists such as Beyoncé, Adele, Whitney Houston, Cher, Aerosmith, Elton John, Faith Hill, Aretha Franklin, Willie Nelson, Mary J. Blige, Jennifer Hudson, *NSYNC, Eric Clapton, Celine Dion, LeAnn Rimes, Mariah Carey and Barbra Streisand. She continues to work with many of today’s most popular acts, including Snoop Dogg, Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Justin Bieber, Jessie J, Andra Day, Jason Derulo and Demi Lovato, among many others.

Since her first hit “Solitaire” in 1983, Warren’s timeless ballads such as “Unbreak My Heart” (Toni Braxton), “How Do I Live” (Trisha Yearwood, LeAnn Rimes), “Because You Loved Me” (Celine Dion) and “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” (Aerosmith) have earned her Grammy, Golden Globe awards and countless other award nominations. Her work has been featured in more than a hundred motion pictures resulting in eight Academy Award nominations. Warren has six ASCAP Songwriter of the Year Awards, three consecutive Billboard Music Awards for Songwriter of the Year and she was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2001.

“I am honored to be receiving the Founders Award and to be among the names of songwriters whom I admire and respect so much.”

Most recently, Warren composed the original song “Prayers for this World,” performed by Cher for the documentary Cries From Syria directed by Evgeny Afineevsky. The film premiered on January 22nd at the Sundance Film Festival and debuts on HBO on March 13th. She also wrote a new theme song for ABC’s The View called “World’s Gone Crazy.” Performed by Mary J. Blige, it premiered on the show in September 2016.

Warren’s haunting and evocative “Til It Happens To You” was featured in the groundbreaking 2015 documentary on campus sexual assault, The Hunting Ground. Performed by Lady Gaga, it was the first song in history to be nominated for an Academy Award, Grammy and Emmy, winning the Emmy for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics in 2016. It was also nominated for a Critics’ Choice Award for Best Song and won the Hollywood Music in Media Award for Best Song — Documentary.

Warren has written inspiring anthems for many issues important to her including the song, “This Is For My Girls.” Released in 2016, it features vocal performances from Kelly Clarkson, Chloe & Halle, Missy Elliott, Jadagrace, Lea Michele, Janelle Monáe, Kelly Rowland and Zendaya. Sales from the single benefit charities supporting young women’s education globally, including former First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Let Girls Learn” initiative. Michelle Obama and Missy Elliott performed the song on the popular “Carpool Karaoke” segment on The Late Late Show with James Corden, which garnered over 52 million views.

Warren maintains control of her compositions as the sole owner of her publishing company Realsongs.

The ASCAP Founders Award goes to pioneering ASCAP songwriters who have made exceptional contributions to music by inspiring and influencing their fellow music creators. Past recipients include Ashford & Simpson, Burt Bacharach & Hal David, Jackson Browne, Elvis Costello, Billy Joel, Annie Lennox, Sir Paul McCartney, Joni Mitchell, Tom Petty, Smokey Robinson, Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, Carly Simon, Patti Smith, Steely Dan, Rod Stewart, James Taylor, Steven Tyler & Joe Perry (Aerosmith), Tom Waits, Ann & Nancy Wilson (Heart), Stevie Wonder and Neil Young.

Florida Georgia Line, Backstreet Boys unveil new video

Florida Georgia Line & Backstreet Boys

Florida Georgia Line and superstar collaborators Backstreet Boys have premiered the tender new video for their current chart-rising single “God, Your Mama, And Me” on Big Machine TV and across all digital platforms. Watch online.

Filmed on the stunning white sand of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, the video features unique behind-the-scenes looks into the real-life romance of each artist. Director TK McKamy (“H.O.L.Y.,” “May We All”) captures adoring clips that pair perfectly with the tune’s faithful, passionate message, co-written by Josh Kear, Hillary Lindsey and Gordie Sampson. Entertainment Weekly offered a sneak peek at the music video shoot to deliver fans a first-look photo feature, revealing a musical partnership between two era-defining acts that has grown into a full-scale friendship.

“We’ve become friends with them [Backstreet Boys] at this point,” said FGL’s Tyler Hubbard to Entertainment Weekly. “And it’s become more and more exciting with everything that we do together.” BSB’s Kevin Richardson says it’s a two-way street. “We’re buds now,” he says. “It’s just a real positive vibe. It’s been a pleasure and an honor to do this song with them.”

“God, Your Mama, And Me” is the third single from FGL’s third No. 1 album, Dig Your Roots, which has already taken singles “H.O.L.Y.” and “May We All” (featuring Tim McGraw) to chart-topping status.

Meanwhile, it was revealed last week that FGL has earned five nominations – Entertainer of the Year, Album of the Year (Dig Your Roots), Single of the Year (“H.O.L.Y.”), Vocal Duo of the Year and Vocal Event of the Year (“May We All”) – at the upcoming 52nd ACM Awards. Taking place for the first time in Las Vegas’ new T-Mobile Arena, the star-studded event will air live April 2nd on CBS at 8 pm ET. The duo has previously won six ACM Awards.

FGL’s electrifying 2017 Dig Your Roots Tour is on the road now, featuring Dustin Lynch and Chris Lane, plus Seth Ennis, Ryan Follese and Morgan Wallen on select dates. More than 25 shows have already been revealed through May 6th. The tour will crisscross North America with stops from Houston, Texas, to Quebec, Canada, and everywhere in between.
