Ladies And Gentlemen: Barenaked Ladies And The Persuasions

Ladies And Gentlemen: Barenaked Ladies And The Persuasions is set for release on April 14th.

Pledgers can pre-order the album in digital, CD, and vinyl form now on the Barenaked Ladies campaign page. Produced by Gavin Brown, Ladies And Gentlemen: Barenaked Ladies And The Persuasions was recorded live off the floor with The Persuasions. Before hitting the studio together, and after running through about 25 songs from BNL’s extensive award-winning catalog, both BNL and the Persuasions’s excitement grew and the songs were narrowed down to the final 15 tracks featured on the LP. The album marks the groups’ first collaborative recording project, an idea that was sparked when BNL invited The Persuasions onstage during their 2016 Last Summer On Earth tour. The album will feature BNL tracks including “One Week”, “When I Fall”, “The Old Apartment”, and more.

Fans who pre-order from the album will receive an AccessPass, which will give them early access to the project; plus updates, streams of the tracks, behind-the-scenes studio footage, sneak peeks into the collaboration, and more, through PledgeMusic. Fans will also be able to pledge on exclusive merchandise bundles and one-of-a-kind items from the band. These include: a special package featuring a signed drumhead, BNL beanie, vinyl, and T-shirt; a BNL kitchen kit including a signed apron, oven gloves, and spatula and a signed CD; a bundle including your very own signed BNL hockey jersey, beanie, limited-edition Kleen Kanteen with BNL artwork, vinyl, and exclusive T-Shirt; and much more.

The Cranberries announce ‘Something Else’ for April 28th

The Cranberries - Something Else

The Cranberries are set to release Something Else, a new album featuring re-worked renditions of their major hits, as well as brand new material. The album is due out April 28th via BMG on digital and CD formats, and includes seminal Cranberries songs like “Linger,” “Zombie,” “Dreams,” and “Ode To My Family”… re-recorded in orchestral and acoustic arrangements.

Something Else celebrates the 25th anniversary of the band. Their first major U.S. hit “Linger” has been re-done acoustically, and just premiered on Rolling Stone! On the album concept and choice of “Linger” as the first single.

“‘Linger’ was the first song The Cranberries ever wrote together. I was 17, and the youngest member of the band was 15 at the time. We never imagined it’d be such a big hit, but soon us teenagers found ourselves on our first flight to the United States to shoot the video in Downtown LA,” The Cranberries’ singer-songwriter Dolores O’Riordan explains. “That video would introduce us to American households, in the good old days of MTV! The bittersweet love song still holds all that sentimentality for us personally, which is why we had to include it on this project. Universally, I think its message remains timeless and relevant, never going out of fashion, yet never quite in fashion. It’s amazing to have a song hold up 25 years later, and I hope this acoustic version allows our fans to hear a Cranberries classic in a new way.”

“Linger ” is available now for download and streaming. The full album is available for pre-order on CD and digital formats.

Last year, over two weeks in the University of Limerick, at the home of the Irish Chamber Orchestra, the band revisited old times; O’Riordan laid down vocals as small booths were created to record the instruments as if live. She was no longer a child, singing her amazing, mature songs from an inexperienced vantage point but a woman now, with the capacity to throw her life at the music, the benefit of hindsight. “I prefer them like this,” she says of the new recordings of old songs, “with a little bit more experience behind them, with a new lease of life. They sound fresh again.”

As the record began to take full shape, three new songs were added, to stop it just being a Proustian rush of memories lost and found. The first was “The Glory,” which O’Riordan explains she wrote in The Irish Chamber Orchestra’s rehearsal rooms at the University of Limerick. She then brought out two songs she had been keeping in her personal stash, until she could place them in the right home: “Rupture” (“about depression, about being in that black hole and finding it hard to get out of it”) and the forthcoming single “Why?” (“written just after my father passed, the hardest time”).

It’s testament to O’Riordan and Noel’s song-writing prowess that the new additions to the Cranberries cannon sit seamlessly next to the old. When they began finalising details for the record, they decided on Something Else, a nod to the first record’s Everybody Else…, a title neither riven with the promise of future endeavors or locked into the past.

1. Linger
2. The Glory
3. Dreams
4. When You’re Gone
5. Zombie
6. Ridiculous Thoughts
7. Rupture
8. Ode To My Family
9. Free To Decide
10. Just My Imagination
11. Animal Instinct
12. You & Me
13. Why

Machine Gun Kelly releases new single with Hailee Steinfield

Machine Gun Kelly - At My Best

EST 19XX/Bad Boy/Interscope recording artist Machine Gun Kelly collaborates with Oscar nominated actress and multi-platinum selling recording artist Hailee Steinfeld, for the inspiring new single, “At My Best,” which is now available at all digital retailers.

Produced by pop music mega producer, Benny Blanco, best known for his work with Kesha and Katy Perry, the duet is a perfect balance for the hot rock star of rap and blossoming songstress new on the music scene.

On “At My Best,” Machine Gun Kelly lets fans know he can relate to anybody in the midst of finding themselves, while Hailee Steinfeld sings the chorus with a theme of knowing and recognizing your worth. This single brings listeners a different feel from MGK’s last release, “Bad Things,” but is so necessary in a time where some fans might need a song of inspiration from an artist they can relate to.

“This song’s for anybody that feels like I did, never the cool kid,” Machine Gun Kelly says in a statement. “This song’s for anybody who fought their way through, always remained true. This song’s for anybody, the ones that’s trying to get it the ones that dream it and live it.”

Machine Gun Kelly kicked off 2017 strong; he garnered his first #1 hit on pop radio with his Camila Cabello collaboration, “Bad Things.” He also made his debut daytime TV appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres Show performing his chart topping single “Bad Things” and followed that with a live performance on BBC Radio’s Radio1 Live Lounge, in the UK, with a special acoustic performance of “Bad Things.”

“Bad Things” owned the Billboard Hot 100 list by staying strong for 18 weeks. The song amassed more than 146m+ streams globally with a radio audience of 145 million and is now RIAA certified platinum.

Machine Gun Kelly continues to push the envelope to be the jack of all trades and diversify his creative portfolio with numerous projects outside of music. He currently holds a strong supporting role opposite of Vera Fermiga in the Rupert Wyatt-directed sci-fi film, Captive State, currently in production in Chicago.

Other acting credits include the independent features Punks Dead, Nerve (with Dave Franco and Emma Roberts) and The Land (with Erykah Badu) in which he served as co-executive producer. He was also handpicked by famed writer/director Cameron Crowe for a regular role on the Showtime series Roadies.

Machine Gun Kelly also signed with Wilhelmina Modeling Agency, and closed out the John Varvatos Fall/Winter 2017 “Wild at Heart” presentation in the last and biggest men’s show of NYFW.

Foo Fighters, The Prodigy headline Secret Solstice Festival

Secret Solstice 2017

Iceland’s Secret Solstice festival has many reasons to be called the most unique festival on the planet, having garnered that title in one form or another by several news outlets around the world.

And it’s not hard to see why. With extreme side events including the world’s only party inside a glacier (the second biggest in Europe, no less), the chance to adventure around some of the country’s spectacular scenery just a stone’s throw from the festival site, and a 2017 lineup featuring the likes of Foo Fighters, The Prodigy, Rick Ross, Big Sean, Chaka Khan, Seth Troxler, Kerri Chandler, Richard Ashcroft and many more, guests are well catered to.

But for foreigners making the trek to Reykjavík for Secret Solstice, it’s definitely the fabled “Midnight Sun” that has generated the most palpable sense of wonder. Due to Iceland’s close proximity to the Arctic, the sun never sets during the summer solstice weekend when the festival is held, meaning guests experience never-ending daylight for the entirety of the event.

Much of Secret Solstice’s acclaim has been as a result of their utilization of the natural Icelandic setting as is the case with their unique side events, though most would be surprised it goes far beyond simply using nature for event spaces.

The North Atlantic island nation exploits the very power of the planet itself, with the abundant volcanic activity being used to generate the renewable geothermal energy that powers almost the entire country. It’s this power that provides all on-site energy needs for Secret Solstice, which is one of the reasons the event was very easily able to achieve carbon neutral status, something it’s held for two consecutive years now.

Secret Solstice festival director Fred Olafsson further elaborated more on the event’s green initiatives, “we try to lessen the impact of Secret Solstice in all areas, whether it’s partnering up with other carbon neutral brands like Icelandic Glacial water, or working with Toyota Iceland who provide us with hybrid vehicles.”

Since launching them in their first year in 2014, Secret Solstice has always been known for their special side events, including the already-announced Midnight Sun Boat Party, as well as their ultra-special Secret Solstice presents Into The Glacier events. Presented by brands like Ministry of Sound, Red Bull and 66ºNorth, both are [on sale now]. However, as has become tradition for the Icelandic music festival, they’re adding a brand new music-driven nature adventure to this year’s calendar.

Secret Solstice presents The Lava Tunnel will be two exclusive events held underground within natural lava tubes that form natural subterranean arteries. These amazing snaking chambers will become host to two acoustic performances by a prominent Icelandic artist, that’ll be witnessed on June 17th and 18th by a small handful of guests.

The location – Iceland’s Raufarholshellir lava tunnels – was formed over 5,000 years ago during a volcanic eruption, and has left a mark on the landscape that’s lasted throughout the centuries. This one-of-a kind experience is sure to leave a mark on the exclusive audience of 50 people who are lucky enough to secure tickets for each show, which are on sale now to the general public.

Although seen by many as remote, Iceland is easier to get to now than ever before, especially for this year’s Secret Solstice. In partnership with airline WOW air, Secret Solstice are offering all-in package deals from North America and Europe including flights, accommodation, and a festival pass starting at only $618 USD from some cities. Even better, by using the codes “wowairhotel” and “wowaircamp” (depending on what accommodation you’re choosing to go with) at checkout, early buyers will receive 20% and 25% respectively, while these limited deals are available. WOW air travel packages currently depart from these North American cities – Boston, Los Angeles, Montreal, Miami, New York, San Francisco, Toronto and Baltimore.

Those planning on heading to Iceland for Secret Solstice’s fourth edition between June 16th-18th, 2017 can book now via Eventbrite or Tix starting at 24,900kr (approx. £183/€210/$224) for a full festival three-day event pass or purchase the aforementioned package deals via the festival’s website.

Whether it’s the lineup, setting in the world’s most northerly capital city, Iceland’s stunning nature, 72 hours of never-ending daylight, or spectacular event experiences you can’t find anywhere else, Iceland’s Secret Solstice is yet again sure to keep its title of the “most unique festival” on the planet in 2017.

Ryan Adams adds Prisoner tour dates

Ryan Adams

Due to overwhelming demand, Ryan Adams has added more dates on his Prisoner tour. Adams and his band have added as second show at New York’s Beacon Theater on May 2nd and Philadelphia on May 6th. Pre-sales for the newly added Prisoner tour dates begin March 15th at 10 am ET, with tickets going on sale to the general public March 17th at 11 am ET.

His Apollo Theater show on the February 17th release date of his new Prisoner (PAX AM/Blue Note) was one of the hottest tickets in recent NYC memory. His May 3rd Beacon Theater Prisoner Tour date has sold out. The Manhattan media has heaped accolades on Prisoner, not least of which New York Magazine hailing the new LP as “genius… the best thing he’s put out in a decade”…

Adams’ Prisoner debuted at #3 on the Billboard Top Album chart, #1 on the Billboard Rock Albums chart and #8 on the Top-200. The album continues to generate some of the best critical notices of the multiple-Grammy-nominated Adams’ storied career, while the additional NYC date is one of several new shows added to the Prisoner Tour to accommodate demand.

Meanwhile, reviews of the tour’s first few stops in the southern U.S. are already echoing the raves that heralded Prisoner’s release:

“Adams’ set was among one of the best sounding the National has hosted in recent years… Richmond seemed energized for a second evening with Adams.”—RVA Magazine

“Adams performed 26 songs in a set that stretched past two hours, with no intermission, no encore and no lack of intensity… his strongest statement of resistance and resolve. That the audience sang along with, and not over, Adams… proved just how far he and his fans have come.”—southflorida.com
