The film stars Alan Rickman and Johnny Galecki
The first trailer for CBGB has been released. The film about New York’s most famous rock club is based on a true story and hits theaters in October.
CBGB tells the story of club owner Hilly Kristal, played by Alan Rickman, launching a country, bluegrass and blues club (hence the initals “CBGB”) in New York, but the club turns out to launch the careers of some of the most notable acts in punk and underground rock such as The Ramones, Blondie and The Police instead. Kristal then becomes known as the “Godfather of Punk.”
Also starring in the film is The Big Bang Theory‘s Johnny Galecki as record executive Terry Ork, Malin Akerman as Debbie Harry and Ashley Greene as Lisa Kristal. Bradley Whitford and Donal Logue also star while Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins plays punk icon Iggy Pop.
The soundtrack will be released on October 8th via Omnivore Records and features original music from Iggy Pop, Blondie, Joey Ramone, Patti Smith, Velvet Underground, The Police, Talking Heads, Television and Dead Boys. It will be available on CD, double LP vinyl and expanded digital formats. The first vinyl pressing will be on translucent pink vinyl.
The film opens everywhere October 11th.
