Highlights Include Appearances by Adam Levine, John Mellencamp, Toby Keith, & Mick Fleetwood, among others

AXS TV, the premier destination for classic rock programming, pays tribute to one of rock’s most iconic frontmen in Sammy Hagar’s 70th Birthday Bash on Saturday, October 14 at 1 pm ET, in honor of the Red Rocker’s 70th Birthday on Friday, October 13th. The daylong event puts the spotlight on 12 star-studded episodes of Rock & Roll Road Trip with Sammy Hagar, closing out with Hagar’s eye-opening 2016 sit-down on The Big Interview with Dan Rather.

Highlights include Sammy’s keynote speech at SXSW and unforgettable rock-rap jam with hip-hop pioneer Darryl McDaniels at 1pm ET; as well as a special look at the series’ best performances so far at 1:30 pm ET; and a trip to San Francisco for an energetic jam with John Mayer and Tommy Lee on “Finish What You Started,” and a one-of-a-kind collaboration with James Hetfield, Mayer, Joe Satriani, Melissa Etheridge, and Pat Monahan on the Janis Joplin classic “Piece Of My Heart.” Then, at 3 pm ET, Hagar dives into the history of rock with Cheap Trick guitarist Rick Nielsen in Chicago, and delivers a powerhouse performance with his supergroup The Circle — featuring Michael Anthony, Jason Bonham, and Vic Johnson — at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre; and heads to Maui for an intimate dinner at Supermensch superstar Shep Gordon’s home at 3:30 pm ET.

At 4 pm ET, Hagar enjoys a spirited rock talk and blues jam with ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons in Saratoga, California; pays a visit to folk hero John Mellencamp at his art studio in Indiana at 4:30 pm ET; and returns to Maui for a conversation on art and music with Fleetwood Mac legend Mick Fleetwood at 5 pm ET. Then, stay tuned for a very special episode at 5:30 pm ET, that finds Hagar joining Grammy-winning pop vocalist Adam Levine to discuss the Maroon 5 frontman’s eclectic career, before heading into the studio for an impromptu jam that puts a new twist on Marvin Gaye’s seminal R&B classic “I Heard It Through The Grapevine,” with guests Richie Sambora and Orianthi.

The festivities continue at 6 pm ET, as Hagar sets out to Norman, Oklahoma for an acoustic jam with country mainstay Toby Keith; performs Chickenfoot favorites with bandmates Chad Smith and Joe Satriani at his studio in San Francisco at 6:30 pm ET; takes a trip to Nashville to jam with heavy metal icon Vince Neil at 7 pm ET; and swings over to Sin City for a cruise down the Strip with Eagles legend Don Felder, followed by a hangout session with rock superstars Styx backstage at the Venetian Theater, and a visit with classic comic Carrot Top at 7:30 pm ET. The night comes to a close at 8 pm ET as Hagar sits down with Dan Rather for a candid conversation that finds the boisterous rocker getting personal about his poverty-stricken upbringing, the secret to his happiness, and how he got in touch with his inner child.
