These are your Weekend Notes for June 27, 2020
The Dixie Chicks are the latest band to move away from their southern heritage. The band released their new social-justice-focused music “March March” video as simply “The Chicks” and have also made the change to their name on social platforms. However, as of this taping, the trio has yet to make a formal announcement.
Next week, the Country Music Association will air their CMA Summer Stay-Cay. The event is a brand new, multi-hour live stream. More than 50 country acts will come together (while safely apart) on Wednesday, July 1st. This virtual event is inspired by the annual CMA Fest, which was canceled this year due to the pandemic.
Speaking of canceled events, The Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in Manchester, Tennessee, has canceled its 2020 edition, after initially postponing the event three months.
Eric Church premiered his new single this past Thursday. “Stick That in Your Country” is already receiving rave reviews. It impacts country radio on Monday, June 29th.
Live Nation has announced their first ever U.S. drive-in concert series — Live From The Drive In — will bring fans a live music tailgating experience unlike any other, kicking off July 10th thru 12th in Indianapolis, Nashville, and St. Louis. Brad Paisley will headline performances in all three cities, marking the start of a much anticipated return to in person live events.
Live Nation is reimagining the live music experience by allowing fans to enjoy concerts in a one-of-a-kind drive-in setting from their own private tailgating zones next to their cars. Guests are allowed to bring chairs, food and drinks to party in their zone to personalize their experience.
