Chris Stapleton, Selena Gomez first musical performers for ‘SNL’ in 2016

Chris Stapleton and Selena Gomez are the first musical performers set for Saturday Night Live in 2016. NBC has announced that Stapleton will make his musical guest debut when the series returns January 16th with Star Wars: The Force Awakens actor Adam Driver making his hosting debut. Gomez will follow on January 23rd and make her SNL debut as well with first time host, UFC fighter Ronda Rousey.

The Grammy-winning Stapleton received an astounding surge in record sales for his first solo album, Traveller, after wowing audiences with a breathtaking performance with Justin Timberlake at the 49th Annual CMA Awards. Almost instantaneously the album soared to No. 1, selling 153,428 units and 177,199 equivalent album sales that week alone, landing atop of the Billboard 200 chart. Within hours of the performance, all of Stapleton’s West Coast tour dates sold out.

Gomez released her latest album Revival in October 2015 featuring “Good For You” which topped the Top 40 Radio Charts for three consecutive weeks. Gomez kicks off her Revival World Tour 2016 on May 6th in Las Vegas. The trek is set to hit 41 cities across the Untied States and Canada through the summer.
