Chris Young cancels CMA performance after kitchen accident

The singer had to have emergency surgery following a kitchen accident

Chris Young has canceled his CMA Music Festival performance at LP Field for Saturday night (June 7th) following an accident late Thursday (June 5th).

Young underwent surgery on Friday to repair damaged tendons after he accidentally cut his hand with a kitchen knife while making a late dinner following his fan club party aboard the General Jackson Showboat in Nashville on Thursday night, Nashville’s The Tennessean reports. As a result of the surgery, Young is unable to perform Saturday.

The “Voices” singer is expected to fully recover, but will require some rehabilitation.

Young also canceled a four hour autograph session on Friday due to his injuries, but was planning to perform at LP Field Saturday.

No replacement, if any, has been announced as of press time. Saturday’s LP Field lineup also consists of Sara Evans, Darius Rucker, Little Big Town, Florida Georgia Line and Keith Urban.
