Chris Young sets career first-week streaming record with ‘Famous Friends’

New album tallies 12.7m streams

Multi-platinum, global entertainer Chris Young has set a new career first-week streaming record for his newest album. Famous Friends. The album opens at No. 3 on the Billboard Top Country albums chart, with 23,760 equivalent album units earned in the US for his eighth studio project. The single week 12.7 million streaming tally for Famous Friends marks a 118% increase over his prior album, Losing Sleep.

In addition, the Gold certified, multi-week chart-topping title track collaboration with Kane Brown notches a 10th week inside the Top 5 on Billboard’s country radio chart as the CMT Music Awards Collaborative Video of the Year tops CMT’s Hot 20 Countdown this week.

Fans can watch Young and Mitchell Tenpenny perform “At The End Of A Bar” on NBC’s TODAY with Hoda & Jenna on Thursday, August 19th. The collaboration amassed more than three million streams in its first week of release.

Last week, Young was surprised backstage following Saturday night’s Grand Ole Opry with a plaque commemorating more than four billion streams to date on Pandora. The presentation took place during a special live taping of his podcast, The Quad with Chris Young. In recognition of the Opry member’s new status with the streaming platform, Young has also been added to the Pandora Country Billionaires station.

Young will hit the road later this fall for the Famous Friends Tour. The 13 date trek features Young playing 13 arena and amphitheater dates October through December with special guests Mitchell Tenpenny and Callista Clark.
