Christopher Cross set to release ‘Secret Ladder’ Sept 12th

Singer Christopher Cross is scheduled to release Secret Ladder, an extraordinary new album on September 12th. Cross, the multi Grammy and Oscar winning singer-songwriter, made history in 1980 winning an unprecedented five Grammys including Album of the Year and Single of the Year for his iconic and timeless song “Sailing.”

Signed CDs are available for a limited time only for North American fans of Cross to pre-order via Music Glue. These will be delivered to fans no later than mid-October. Unsigned CDs will be available on Amazon.

With 13 new tracks, most written with longtime collaborator Rob Meurer, Cross continues his musical exploration of what he terms “grown-up subject matter” including songs like “Simple” which elicits the tuneful sense of love and serenity that marked his iconic “Sailing.”

Secret Ladder opens with “Reverend Blowhard,” Cross’ tip of the hat to his songwriting heroes Steely Dan’s Donald Fagan and Walter Becker as well as Randy Newman. This song is an unvarnished commentary on TV evangelists. “I Don’t See It Your Way” was inspired by Joni Mitchell, who Cross credits as a huge influence on his songwriting for decades.

While Cross grew up as a military brat who became an avowed pacifist, his song “We Will Remember You” was written to honor the men and women who have served our country in the armed forces. This song only will be available for download on iTunes on September 11th.

Secret Ladder closes with “A Letter to My Children” which he created as “a lasting statement for my kids that reflects both the wonderful mystery of their births and my real feelings for them now that they’re grown.”

Cross is currently on tour with a performance scheduled for September 12th at New York’s City Winery which will celebrate the release of Secret Ladder. A full schedule of upcoming US dates follows.
