CMT Artists of the Year revealed for 2013

The fourth annual event will air live on December 3rd

CMT has revealed that Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line, Hunter Hayes and Tim McGraw will be honored for its annual CMT Artists of the Year TV special set to for December.

For the first time, the special will be airing live on Tuesday, December 3rd at 8 pm ET/PT when this year’s five nominees gather with their peers and notable luminaries in Nashville. The 90 minute special will feature rocking performances, surprise guests and cheers to the achievements of each artist.

The nominees were chosen due to their impact in country music through massive radio airplay, chart-topping album sales and millions of individual downloads of their current singles over the past year. Additionally, each of the acts have sold out concert tours, and their videos have collectively received hundreds of millions streams.

Aldean has been recognized with the honor every year since the first ceremony in 2010. Bryan’s first time being recognized was last year, among seven recipients. Florida Georgia Line, Hayes and McGraw are all being recognized for CMT Artists of the Year for the first time this year.

Other country stars named as previous CMT Artists of the Year include Kenny Chesney, Eric Church, Toby Keith, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Brad Paisley, Taylor Swift,Carrie Underwood and the Zac Brown Band.
