The duet features co-writer Ward Davis
Multi-platinum singer-songwriter Cody Jinks re-visits his highly acclaimed song, “Same Kind of Crazy As Me,” as a duet with co-writer and artist Ward Davis.
“I’m glad we finally put out the version that probably sounds more like the hotel room version. I love this version,” Jink shares.
“Well, same kind of crazy is what it is. Me, Cody and Greg Jones were in a bar and I said “You MFers know why I love y’all so much? Cause yall the same kind of crazy as me.” The next morning, in a hotel in Nashville, with hangovers and regrets to spare, we wrote ‘Same Kind of Crazy As Me.’ Cody had a hit with it a few years back, and for as much as it’s his song, it’s ours, and I’m tickled as shit we got to cut it together,” Ward adds.
The duet arrives on the heels of Backside of 30, the re-release of Jinks’ classic 2012 album, 30, released last month via Late August Records and represents a reflection of his life and career over the past twelve years. Remastered by Adam Grover and remixed by Nick Choate, the project was originally recorded at Rosewood Studios in Tyler, TX, and Blue Smoke Studios in Ft. Worth, TX, and encapsulates his Texas roots and highlights his signature southern sound. On the album are the ten original tracks and the new song, “When The New Wears Off.” The song, produced by Ryan Hewitt and Joshua Thompson, is a heartfelt anthem about everlasting and unconditional love that bridges the prolific eras of his songwriting.
Adding to his prolific career, Jinks also released a new album, Change The Game, earlier this year to widespread critical acclaim. Produced by Ryan Hewitt (Red Hot Chili Peppers, ZZ Top) and Jinks’ longtime bassist, Joshua Thompson, the album marked a new chapter for Jinks personally and professionally.
To support the duet and celebrate their years of collaboration, Cody Jinks and Ward Davis will hit the road later this year for select dates on a special A Night With Cody Jinks & Ward Davis Tour.
