Album will be available Oct 15th via Atlantic Records

Coldplay have confirmed the release of their much-anticipated new album, Music Of The Spheres. The band’s ninth LP will be available on CD, LP and streaming services on October 15th via Atlantic Records.

The band announced the Max Martin-produced album on Instagram via a handwritten note alongside an album trailer which combines an animated cosmic journey through the album’s planetary artwork with short clips of the album’s 12 tracks.

The band’s note also seemed to hint at further sci-fi themes with the phrase “Everyone is an alien somewhere.”

In May, the band released “Higher Power,” the album’s first single, which has been streamed more than 160 million times. The band’s note also revealed
the imminent release of an album track called “Coloratura” coming Friday, July 23rd, to be followed by a new single in September.

Five of the 12 tracks are represented by Emojis.

The LP will be pressed onto 140-gram recycled colored vinyl, making every copy unique. Vinyl color may vary based on recycled plastic available at time of pressing. It’ll be packaged in a 5mm spined outer sleeve with circular die-cut to front cover, revealing a four page map of the spheres insert, and with the disc housed in a card inner bag with center holes and spot glass varnish. The set will contain a 28 page booklet with additional artwork, lyrics and credits. Each vinyl copy will include a download card.

Coldplay will be among the performers at Global Citizens Live, a 24-hour live broadcast with events and performances filmed across six continents to unite the world to defend the planet and defeat poverty. The event will take place on Saturday, September 25th, and will air on ABC, ABC News Live, BBC, FX, iHeartRadio, Hulu, YouTube, Twitter, and more (air dates and times to come).
