Conner Smith involved in fatal accident in Nashville

Smith was driving in downtown Nashville

Country singer Conner Smith was involved in a fatal truck-pedestrian crash in Nashville on Sunday, June 8th. The 24-year-old Valory Music Co. recording artist was driving a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck when he allegedly struck and killed 77-year-old Dorothy Dobbins, who was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk on 3rd Avenue in Downtown Nashville.

Dobbins was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where she later died from her injuries.

Police state that the preliminary contributing factor appears to be Smith failing to yield the right of way to the pedestrian. They also indicated that Smith showed no signs of impairment. No charges have been filed at present, as the investigation is ongoing.

Smith’s attorney has confirmed his involvement in the accident and stated that Smith is cooperating fully with authorities. Smith expresses his condolences to Ms. Dobbins’ family. The incident happened on the final day of CMA Fest.

Smith rose to fame with the multi-week international chart-topper “Creek Will Rise” which he followed with “Meanwhile In Carolina.” In 2024, Smith earned his first ACM Awards nomination, and released the all-acoustic Smoky Mountains Sessions EP and fast-paced “Steal My Thunder” featuring Tucker Wetmore. He was also featured in summer blockbuster Twisters: The Movie and on the film’s star-studded soundtrack.
